Never too old!
I decided to go to a dance class put on by the one and only celerity choreographer and dancer Glenn Douglas Packard! My thoughts on going went back and forth. Should I go? Should I not go? I do need to keep up with my craft, will I be the oldest dancer in the room? Will I be able to keep up?
Overall I think I did ok, or I did as I expected. He really pushed us with the warm-up! Whooa!!! I haven't stretched like that in years! I do have injuries and usually don't push myself in that way, but I think I did ok. Learning choreography was ok. I haven't taken a class in a long time so my brain is definitely rusty!
As a dance instructor and choreographer, I think it's great to take from other choreographers and keep up with the times and challenge ourselves! I learned a lot and was reminded of a lot! :) Just because I am getting older doesn't mean I can't continue to do what I love. I also learned that 37 doesn't have to be old. I do have 2 wonderful children and a family I take care of and so my advice to anyone is to enjoy life, regardless of what you love to do, know that there are other things in life that are just as important like your Family and friends, and quality of life! (I definitely do not miss rehearsing late nights!!! I was so tired by the end of class, way past my bedtime!)
Definitely check out his story, it's pretty inspiring! www.GlennDouglasPackard.com
